Dr Holder has degrees in mathematics, astrophysics, and theology; he looks at questions like: How did the universe begin and how has it evolved? Does a scientific explanation mean we can do without God? Can the existence of an infinite collection of universes explain the special nature of this universe?

    A talk by Rebecca Trendall, a practising psychotherapist and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. This talk explores how human relationships have power to wound and to heal. It considers how the unconscious affects our ability to connect with others. This talk outlines our current anthropological understanding of human evolution, and brings this scientific account into conversation with the theological narrative concerning Adam and Eve, a perspective relevant to contemporary issues concerning human identity, value, and purpose.

  • The God Particle and its relevance for ourselves
    A talk by Dr Peter Bussey, a particle physicist and emeritus Reader in Physics in the School of Physics and Astronomy at Glasgow University. Dr Bussey is a member of one of the collaborations at CERN that have been searching for the Higgs boson.
